What was the Red Rising in the Ruhr?
After the Kapp Putsch was over and Kapp had fled, communist workers in the Ruhr launched a mass strike. They demanded the right to arm themselves, in order to guard against future putsches. This was known as the 'Red Rising'.

What happened in the Red Rising of the Ruhr?
The striking workers took over several towns and armed themselves. The SPD sent the Freikorps to deal with the rebellion. The rising was crushed and over 1,000 workers were killed.
