The New Model Army was the army created to support Parliament during the English Civil War.
Who set up the New Model Army?
It was set up by Parliament. Its first leader was Thomas Fairfax. It was then led by Oliver Cromwell.
How was the New Model Army different?
It was different to other armies at the time as it was a professional organisation. The soldiers were paid, were highly disciplined, and religious.
