Imre Nagy was a Hungarian communist politician who served as prime minister from 1953 to 1955 and again during the Hungarian Uprising in 1956.

Nagy introduced reforms that Khrushchev accepted. However, Nagy then announced that Hungary was leaving the Warsaw Pact, so Khrushchev sent in the Red Army.
