What was the King David Hotel?
The King David Hotel was a hotel which, in its southern wing contained the administrative headquarters of the British Mandate and British Army.
What happened when the King David Hotel was bombed?
A lorry drove up to the tradesmen's entrance and the workman (Irgun in disguise as Arabs) brought in a number of milk churns. The milk churns contained high explosives and were placed by any supporting columns of the southern wing. They were set off at 12.37pm.

How many died at the bombing of the King David Hotel?
91 people were killed: 41 Arabs, 28 Britons and 17 Jews. Mostly civilians.
Was the King David Hotel warned about the bombing?
Begin said that three warnings were telephoned to the Hotel before the bombings. However, if this did happen they did not get to the right people as the hotel was not evacuated.
What was the outcome of the bombing at the King David Hotel?
Many were outraged at the bombing. Haganah publicly condemned the Irgun. Palestinian Jews were subjected to curfew, searches, mass arrests and road blocks by the British military. This all cost the British more money and the British public did not understand why the military were still there when the Second World War was over.
Why did people bomb the King David Hotel?
Irgun were angry at the British for limiting Jewish immigration to Palestine and not creating a Jewish state.
