The Arab Revolt of 1936 was an uprising against the British authorities in Palestine and the Jewish settlers who had come to the mandate since the Balfour Declaration.

The Arab Revolt was the result of growing tensions between the Jews and Arabs in the Palestine Mandate. The British authorities were seen by the Arabs as being biased towards the Jewish community. Many Arabs feared the Jews would eventually outnumber them in Palestine.
Who led the Arab Revolt in 1936?
One of the key leaders of the revolt was the Grand Mufti of Palestine, Amin al-Husseini. He began the uprising by calling for an Arab general strike on 16th May, 1936.

The Arab revolt was defeated by the British by the end of 1936. However, after the Peel Report into the revolt was published in 1937, sporadic violence continued until 1939.
