What is Arab nationalism?
Arab nationalism is the political idea that all Arabs should be united in one nation or an allied group of nations.
What caused Arab nationalism?
Arab nationalism developed as the Turkish Ottoman Empire, which had ruled several Arab countries, collapsed in the First World War. Many Arabs hoped for a future state that represented their interests.
What was the result of Arab Nationalism?
When the British and the French divided Arab mandates between them and Britain announced the Balfour declaration, many Arab nationalists felt betrayed and believed Britain could not be trusted. They did not believe they would be treated fairly in the Palestine Mandate.
