The 15th Amendment

What is the Fifteenth Amendment?
The Fifteenth Amendment gave all American citizens the right to vote. It ensured no one could be denied the vote due to their former status as a slave, or due to their race. However, southern states got around this by making it difficult for African Americans to vote - for example, by making voters pass literacy tests.
When was the Fifteenth Amendment signed?
The Fifteenth Amendment was signed in 1870.
